Welcome to Life Reclaimed, a place for honest conversations about faith, healing, in real life.

We are three friends learning to walk in freedom and trust God through the messy middle.

Pull up a chair.

We’re glad you’re here.

Let’s dive in.

Welcome, everyone.

Thanks for joining us for the first of two mini-episodes.

My name is Kim, and I’m joined around the table with my two friends, Brenda and Cindy.

Last week, we finished our second season where we explored becoming whole.

So before we start season three, we just wanted to pop in real quick and tell you about a few things.

That’s right.

First, let’s talk about the schedule.

This week and next week, we will have mini-episodes.

Then we will be back with full episodes for season three, healed.

So make sure you’re following us so you don’t miss it when season three starts.

And second, let’s talk about a resource.

If you found the last episode interesting, the 10 Biblical Truths to Renew Your Mind, the Whole Edition, we have a free gift for you.

It’s actually free with no strings attached, no email collection, nothing.

We just want to provide space where you can bring these lies into your time with Jesus and let him start the process of snipping out the roots and replacing them with His truth.

So if this sounds like something you might find helpful, you can check it out at lifereclaimed.net and tap Companion Guide in the menu.

Easy, free downloadable PDF for both Season 1 and Season 2 Bonus Episodes.

And if you would like some worship music to go along with Season 2, we also have our second Spotify playlist.

You can find the playlist on our website or search Life Reclaimed on Spotify.

Okay, those are the announcements for today.

So let’s do a quick checkin.

What is your favorite worship song or hymn right now that lifts your spirits?

I’m listening to Jesus Be the Name, over and over.

Yes, so good.

I love that.

That’s a good one.

Yeah.

And then I also really love the Lord will provide.

Oh, yeah.

So good.

I am listening to so many, but ones that stuck out to me that have really helped me through some things, I need you more by Josiah Queen, and Henrick.

And then I just love Katie Nichols and just her like desire to cover you in Jesus.

So in Jesus’ name is one of my favorites.

Love that.

That’s a good one.

Well, we went on this road trip and I had downloaded the Life Reclaimed Season 2 and Season 1 onto my Spotify.

And so as we were zooming through the mountains, and I say that jokingly, we’re going really slow in tight corners through the mountains.

These songs just poured over.

So a couple of songs on our Life Reclaimed Season 2, Roots by Jamie McDonald from The Chosen.

Oh, so good.

And then Who I Am to You – Anne Wilson

Such a great, great song.

And then lately, because I just listened to these songs over and over and they just washed over me, I just keep waking up every morning and the song, Honestly, I Think We Just Need Jesus, just keeps pouring over me.

And so I wake up singing that song.

So it’s been actually really fun to have this playlist and to get to spend some really great hours on it.

Oh, it’s been good.

That’s great.

Well, let’s wrap up the season with a heartfelt question.

Oh, wait. Is this going to be hard?

I hope not too hard.

Okay.

What is one thing that you will take away from all the discussions we had in season two whole?

You know, I think the idea that we cannot make ourselves whole.

Yeah.

Period.

And it seems really obvious.

And yet look at all the things that we do to try to make ourselves whole.

Yeah.

And we’re just spinning our wheels.

Yeah.

That’s good.

Yeah.

I think I’m going to take away the fact that my brokenness, I always saw it, we’ve described it as the vessel that was shattered and broken into all the pieces.

And when you put Jesus into it, it’s like the light that shines through all the cracks from the vessel.

And I always saw that as a discredit or something that discounted me from being used for God’s service.

But I think, my view is changing a little bit, guys. We’re growing and changing.

I think my brokenness doesn’t have to stay broken, isn’t broken, is redeemed in Jesus, and his light shining through those cracks is actually purposeful and useful and beautiful.

Amen.

Amen.

I think my biggest takeaway from all of our discussions was that the moment we accepted Jesus into our hearts and started loving him, we were immediately whole in the eyes of God.

Right?

I never looked at it that way.

I never saw it that way.

I was more like, well, I’m just such a broken person that, you know, yes, God might love me, but how could He truly use me?

Sure.

And so I think through our season learning that, no, God is already using each one of us because you are already whole in his eyes.

Yeah.

So I think that was probably my biggest takeaway.

I’m curious what other people might have heard or what little golden nuggets they may have taken from this season.

I’d be very curious if anybody wanted to send us an email or something and just tell us what golden nuggets they got out of the Whole Season.

I think there was a lot of transformation for just my thought life as we studied and talked through some of these different hard topics that we don’t always talk about.

I’m so thankful for your time around the table, ladies.

Like, it has meant a lot to me.

Oh, I think we’ve probably we all all would agree on that.

And if you are someone that, you know, doesn’t feel like you have ladies in your life, like we can be your ladies.

Yes.

Meet us here weekly.

Yes.

Come connect with us.

Connect.

Yes, Connect with us for sure.

Go to our website. Email us. We’d love to connect with you. Hear your story.

We might even have a Facebook page.

What? That’s amazing.

Life Reclaimed Pod.

Yeah.

Another thing I wanted to ask, do you think, as you move forward, that you will take the lessons that we learned in Whole forward you?

Or do you think it’ll be something that we kind of forget and just sort of keep moving from?

I think an honest answer is both.

Yeah.

Yeah, I do. I think there might be bits and pieces we will forget because we have to be told again and again.

Yes.

Like our conversation over the lies that we believe.

Like we’re still working on breaking those lies and we know the truth.

Yeah.

And so we have to be told.

So I think maybe not every session will resonate all the time that we might have to.

I think it’s a good habit to go back and review and re-listen.

And I think also then there’s pieces that you’re just not going to forget.

Yes.

Right.

Yeah.

We’re not going to forget.

I’m not going to forget that I can be shattered in two and still be whole.

That was, that was the eye opener.

Yeah.

What would you say to the woman who is still not feeling quite whole?

Give yourself grace.

You’re so good at that.

You know, I mean, it takes time. It takes time in God’s presence.

It’s nothing that you can do.

And so if you’re able to set that time aside for prayer, for meditating on worship songs, you know, for reading your Bible, you will get there, but He already sees you as a whole, but for you to feel it, I think just the more time you spend with Jesus, the more you’re going to feel it.

Yes.

I love that.

Yes.

And I think there’s a point where you can’t be afraid to rip off the band-aid.

Right?

Wow.

Like, you know that whatever your struggle might be or whatever your lack of trust might be with God, like really sitting in that, you know, be still.

And know that I am God.

Exactly.

Right?

And allow that work to happen.

Yeah.

You know, I feel like I’m in that spot right now. I just started this study and I’ve been talking about, we got to surrender.

We need to surrender.

And finally like, what am I not surrendering?

Yes.

You know, I’m letting God show you like this is what I need from you.

Remember that I’m in control and trust me with it.

He will make it pretty clear, but it goes back to being intentional with your time with God.

Yeah.

And he won’t show you the whole road map

For good reason, right?

For good reason. But I think the first reason is, is because then you wouldn’t need him.

Yeah.

And he’s chosen you.

He wants that relationship with you.

He wants you to rely on Him.

So if you’re not feeling quite whole for whatever reason, be intentional with your time with God and surrender.

Love it.

Love it.

So good.

Well, every episode, even our mini episode would not be complete without some scriptures.

Like he says, be still and know that I am God in Psalms 46:10.

I love that verse.

That verse has always meant so much to me.

I don’t understand it because I’m one of those who like runs and runs and runs and is always doing the work.

But I have studied that verse several times and gone, man, do I really, like, does God come meet you when you’re still?

And we’re not quiet enough.

Yeah.

Long enough at all.

We don’t give ourselves space to really just stop and be still.

Right.

And a lot of times when we think of this stop and be still, we’re thinking in a physical sense.

Yeah.

Like, stop moving, stop talking.

But what about this idea of allowing your heart to be still?

Your heart to rest.

Wow.

Right.

You know, and to let God just comfort you and talk to you and move in you.

Yeah.

Because God is still in charge.

Last time we checked.

Yes.

Yes.

You mean it’s not me?

Yeah.

We want it to be.

We feel like we think it would be easier.

Right?

Yet.

Yet it’s not.

Another fabulous verse that we can cling to is trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct the paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

This is another one when you’re trying to figure out how to make yourself whole.

What do I need to do? Relying on God and trusting Him and He’ll show you.

Right.

And again, we can’t do anything.

Exactly.

We can’t do it.

It’s that lean in, lean on, God, and let Him work.

And I think sometimes He’s already told us and we know.

Right?

But We’re choosing not to.

But we’re choosing not to.

I really believed that.

Like, I just think of my own things. Like, I know what I need to do.

I know. I know exactly what I need to do.

And I just delay it, delay it, delay it. Because you feel like I don’t know if I trust the other side of it.

Well, you don’t need to trust the other side of it.

You just need to trust God.

Yeah.

Because He’s, He already knows what is going to happen on the other side and He has me.

And it’s good.

Exactly.

What He has for us is good.

And sometimes we prevent the good.

Interesting.

Yes.

And then there are other times when we are stuck and we’re not quite sure why.

And that’s when we have to really listen.

Yeah.

I’ve been there too.

Exactly.

Exactly.

As a teacher, you know, kids always bring you the yearbook at the end of the year and you always have to sign something.

And I have always paraphrased that verse and said, keep your eyes focused on Jesus and he will make your path straight.

And, you know, it’s from that verse, but every time, I mean, that’s what I have written for, I can’t tell you how many years because the only piece of advice that I have that could actually ever matter or mean anything is that.

That’s it.

That’s the only piece of advice I could give them that I mean, if they didn’t learn anything all year from being around me, like I don’t know what to tell you, but if, if I’ve got one last chance to tell you something , keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, lean not on your own understanding and all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your past right.

It’s a good message.

Yeah, it’s all I got

 We all need to absorb.

Yeah.

Love it.

Well, that’s all for today.

Thanks for being part of these honest conversations as we seek healing and freedom in Christ.

Let’s pray.

Father, God, Abba, Father, you are the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega.

You are the divine creator who has created all things good.

We’re so grateful for your love for each one of us and that you have never left us nor forsaken us.

We ask for forgiveness for the sins that we have done and the things that you’ve asked us to do that we haven’t done.

We ask, Lord, that you would continue to heal us, that you would continue to make us healthy, that you would continue to help us to become whole.

Lord, would you restore and refresh and renew in us, not only the way that you see us, but also allow us to see us in a more whole way because of the work that you have done, not because of anything we have done.

We thank you, Lord, for this time together around the table.

We thank you for these beautiful friends that we’ve been able to get together with.

And we ask, Lord, that as we go into our week, would you grant us what we stand in need of in your son’s holy name.

Amen.

Amen.

Well, thanks for joining us around the table.

We’ll leave you there for now.

May you draw close to God as he continues to make you whole.

As we close, we pray that you would notice Jesus meeting you in the ordinary moments of your week.

He loves you.

He sees you.

He is fighting for you.
